Education: Council Member Cannon received his Bachelor's Degree in Communications with a concentration in Business Marketing from North Carolina A & T State University in Greensboro. He also holds a certificate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Institute of Government.

Profession: Cannon is a small business owner, operating and managing a parking management firm he founded in 1998. He is also a managing partner for a business development and consulting firm.

Political: He was first elected in 1993 and is serving his seventh term, making him the longest serving member of the board. He chairs the Community Safety Committee and vice-chairs the Restructuring Government and Economic Development committees. He is also a member of the Housing and Neighborhood Development Committee.
